"I'm sorry! I don't want to leave you, but I think Echosong is right, and...and she can't just wander off without any warriors to take care of her!"
— Harrybrook to Leafstar about leaving SkyClan with Echosong in Hawkwing's Journey, page 346

Harrybrook is a gray tom[6] with a paler underside[8] and amber eyes.[9]

Harrybrook is a SkyClan warrior under Leafstar's leadership in the gorge and the lake territories. He was born as Harrykit to Leafstar and Billystorm alongside his sisters, Firekit and Stormkit, and was named after Sol when Leafstar first met him. He and his siblings were taken by Sol so that he could pretend to find them and be noticed by SkyClan. However, his plan was discovered, and Leafstar banished Sol, and the kits were safely returned to their parents.

Harrykit later became a warrior named Harrybrook. Harrybrook traveled to the lake when SkyClan was driven out of the gorge by the Kin, but left the Clan behind to travel with Echosong and Bellaleaf on a solo mission to find ThunderClan. However, they returned and rejoined their Clan to the lake. Once there, Harrybrook helped drive out the Kin and mentored Fringewhisker. Following Bramblestar's revival, Harrybrook supported punishments for the codebreakers. He and Blossomheart later became mates and had two kits together: Ridgekit and Duskkit.

History

In the A Vision of Shadows arc

Darkest Night

When SkyClan is about to leave ThunderClan for their new territory, Harrybrook sniffs the air. Later, when the SkyClan camp is empty, it is noted that Harrybrook, Plumwillow, and Sandynose are hunting. When the SkyClan patrol that went with Molewhisker to find the lost SkyClan warriors is almost back at the lake, Violetpaw thinks that Molewhisker seems almost more like a Clanmate than Sparrowpelt or Harrybrook.
Meanwhile, a ThunderClan patrol comes to the SkyClan camp asking for herbs after a storm, and Leafstar agrees, while Harrybrook, Plumwillow, and Fallowfern watch from beside the stream. The Clan leader says that she would be happy to have her Clanmates look for herbs, and tells Leafpool, ThunderClan's medicine cat, to take Fallowfern, Harrybrook, and Plumwillow with her.

River of Fire

Upon returning to SkyClan, Fringepaw has received Harrybrook as her mentor. Twigpaw waits at the the SkyClan border, and Harrybrook and Sagenose appear from a bramble thicket. Twigpaw greets them, and Harrybrook and Sagenose swerve and bound towards her, and Harrybrook demands to know why she was here. Twigpaw explains that she is there to see Violetshine. Sagenose agrees, but reminds her that she is no longer a SkyClan cat, and the two warriors lead Twigpaw to SkyClan's camp.

The Raging Storm

"You promised we'd go home to the gorge, Leafstar. You can't change your mind. You saw the hostility from the other Clans. They only think of themselves. They don't care about us. Why should we care about them?"
―Harrybrook urging Leafstar to lead SkyClan back to the gorge The Raging Storm, page 198
While SkyClan discusses ShadowClan scents that have been found inside their borders, Harrybrook looks up from where he is sharing a mouse with Blossomheart, attentive as he waits to see what his mother will decide to do. Getting to his paws, he suggests that it may have been a clumsy apprentice. At the next Gathering, Violetshine sees him exchanging gossip with Oatclaw and Emberfoot. After Tigerstar demands that SkyClan allow ShadowClan to hunt on the territory ShadowClan gave them, Harrybrook growls at him.
Leafstar agrees to meet Tigerstar to discuss what will happen, bringing Sandynose, Bellaleaf, Harrybrook, and Violetshine with her. The older warriors are a little unsure of what to do with themselves as they are more used to fighting than negotiating. Though Leafstar talks with Juniperclaw, the dispute ends up going nowhere. Harrybrook's hackles lift as he growls that Tigerstar never intended to settle the argument by sending his deputy in his stead. Back at SkyClan's camp, Hawkwing asks how things went, to which Harrybrook informs him that Tigerstar was not interested in talking and had sent Juniperclaw to repeat what he had said at the Gathering. Seeing that Finleap had returned to see his sick sister while they were away, an annoyed Leafstar tells him that he cannot just visit whenever he likes, and Harrybrook exchanges a glance with Bellaleaf. After his mother pads away, Harrybrook whispers to Finleap that he is glad to see him, before he also leaves.
Having had enough of ShadowClan's intrusions, SkyClan assembles a patrol to wait for them to cross the borders again. Harrybrook is part of the patrol, settling down in a pine with Bellaleaf as they wait for ShadowClan cats to appear below them. When they do, Harrybrook drops onto Blazepaw, swiping the younger tom's nose before Grassheart calls a retreat. When Leafstar asks if there are any injuries, he replies that there are barely any scratches, swiping his tail. The next morning, he helps repair the camp alongside Tree. When Leafstar tells the Clan it would be better to return to the gorge than endure the hostility of the other Clans, Harrybrook disagrees with his mother, shouting that they must keep fighting.
Harrybrook joins his Clanmates as they prepare to leave the lake, and now supports Leafstar's position, noting that the daylight-warriors will be glad to see them again. He goes on to tell his doubting mother that the other Clans do not care about them, so they should not bother staying. When Tree announces that the spirit of a cat is among them, Harrybrook and Sagenose back away nervously. He helps carry Fidgetflake's herbs, and tells Nectarpaw that the journey will be long.
A storm begins to brew, much to Harrybrook's displeasure. Hawkwing assures the Clan that they will arrive at the gorge soon, but Harrybrook doubts this, reminding him how many warriors they lost during their exile. Growing wary, he helps his weaker Clanmates climb a tree for shelter, noting that they should be grateful for the safety. When Leafstar volunteers to leap to an adjacent tree to bend a branch over, Harrybrook warns that she will not be any help drowned. As a patrol of cats from the other Clans arrive to help, Harrybrook leaps down from the tree. He hunts for the exhausted Clan and falls into his nest, asleep.

The Silent Thaw

Harrybrook: "If Bramblestar's right, we have to make sure we respect the warrior code. [...] The codebreakers must apologize and make amends, so StarClan can come back."
Bramblestar's ghost: "He sounds just like the impostor. Why is every cat listening to that liar?"
—Harrybrook about the codebreakers The Silent Thaw, page 174
When Frecklewish reveals that Shadowsight had a vision about the codebreakers, Harrybrook replies it is just like Bramblestar said. He is insistent that the codebreakers must make amends, and Bramblestar's ghost speaks with Rootpaw while his Clanmates are listening to Harrybrook's lies. At a Gathering, Harrybrook shouts that the codebreakers must atone. He challenges Leafstar, insisting Bramblestar is right and they must punish those who break the warrior code. Harrybrook glares at Tree because he hunts for himself, but Violetshine defends her mate. Harrybrook is on a patrol with Dewspring and Rootpaw when they encounter Bristlefrost wishing to speak with him.

Veil of Shadows

When Rootpaw reveals the truth about Bramblestar's ghost and the impostor, Harrybrook mocks him. Rootpaw, hurt, tries to prove him otherwise.

The Place of No Stars

"Or maybe he drowned both himself and Squirrelflight. He obviously had bees in his brain. That would be sad, but at least it would put an end to this whole mess."
―Harrybrook to the patrol The Place of No Stars, page 36
Leafstar, Harrybrook, Cherrytail, Rabbitleap, and Tree are on their way to ShadowClan territory when Rootspring tells Leafstar of his urgent news regarding Ashfur. After Rootspring tells the patrol what happened, Harrybrook and the others try to find mistakes in what Rootspring had seen, with Harrybrook stating that Ashfur probably drowned himself and Squirrelflight. Still, the SkyClan leader believes the young yellow tom, and they carry on towards ShadowClan territory.

A Light in the Mist

Harrybrook attends the Gathering where the Clans welcome Bramblestar's return and glances at Rootspring when he is named a Light in the Mist.

The Elders' Quest

"I know it's a tense, stressful time right now, but you've seen us through those before, and I'm sure you'll do it again. Great StarClan, you're the cat who led us to safety here! The journey from the gorge wasn't easy, and we would never have made it without your leadership."
―Harrybrook's support for Leafstar The Elders' Quest, pages 134-135
During a dream, Leafstar sees Harrybrook and his littermates grooming, and when she wakes, she quietly notes that he is her only surviving kin. Later, after Reedclaw blames Leafstar for Kitescratch's death, Harrybrook reassures her that she is not at fault. She tells him that she is considering surrendering her leadership, but Harrybrook protests against this, having faith that she can lead SkyClan through their struggles like she always has. He defends Leafstar when Reedclaw calls for new leadership, though his daughter, Ridgeglow, does not.
Harrybrook has a conflict with Gravelnose over a squirrel leg, claiming that he needs it as he has not eaten for two days. Leafstar intervenes, and Gravelnose tells her that Wrenflight is pregnant with his kits. Harrybrook questions the medicine cats about this, believing that Gravelnose could be lying, and Frecklewish confirms it. Leafstar gives the prey to Wrenflight, and Gravelnose gives Harrybrook a triumphant look, prompting Harrybrook to nearly claw him.
After Leafstar falls in the ravine, she awakens to find herself being carried by Harrybrook and Rootspring. Harrybrook tells her that no cat could find her for three days and suggests that she no longer hunt alone. He and Rootspring merely look at each other when Leafstar is concerned over worrying her Clan. Soon after, Reedclaw called for a second vote against Leafstar's leadership, Harrybrook along with Hawkwing, Macgyver, Rootspring, and Tree were the only cats who still supported her.

Hawkwing's Journey

"Good question. And how long have they lived there? According to Ravenpaw, they left the forest many, many moons ago."
―Harrybrook to Sagenose Hawkwing's Journey, pages 122-123
Hawkwing thinks that Billystorm's death will devastate Harrybrook. When he learns of his father's death, Harrybrook huddles with Firefern and Stormheart, as if the siblings are trying to comfort each other.
Harrybrook is chosen to go on the second quest to find Firestar's kin in ThunderClan. During the journey, they come across new creatures. Harrybrook asks what they are, his shoulder fur beginning to bristle. He exclaims that he did not know animals could get so big. Rain informs the warrior that it's a cow. They learn a large group of cats have stayed in a barn, but Sagenose questions if all four Clans could fit in one barn. Harrybrook states it is a good point and asks how long they could have lived there. He reminds them that Ravenpaw said they left the forest many moons ago. When dogs are chasing the journeying cats, Hawkwing sees Harrybrook is safe on the branches of a tree. Near the barn, the cats want to search for signs of Clan cats and Harrybrook is assigned to keep watch. Hawkwing tells him to warn if there are any signs of dogs or Twolegs coming back. Sagenose and Firefern suggest they cannot find the four Clans. Harrybrook blinks unhappily, asking if they mean to turn around and go home. Sagenose points out how impractical searching constantly for scents, and Harrybrook gives approving murmurs. Sagenose offers to hunt and asks Harrybrook to join him. The tom replies that he will, and Rain also joins them.
On the way back to SkyClan, Hawkwing halts. Harrybrook asks what is going on and Hawkwing points out the stale border scents. When rogues attack the gorge, Harrybrook is seen battling a group at the edge of the river. SkyClan is driven out and on the way to finding the other Clans, they go to the Twolegplace where Stick and his cats live. Dodge captures Curlypaw and Harrybrook is selected as part of the patrol to rescue her. Later on, Harrybrook carries his prey to the fresh-kill pile. Echosong decides to leave SkyClan and follow her omens. Harrybrook half rises, then gets up fully. He decides to go with Echosong to find the Clans. His distraught eyes look to Leafstar as he apologizes. He explains he does not want to leave her but agrees with Echosong, and feels she cannot go without warriors to protect her. Leafstar tells him that he must follow his heart. However, they all return with Harrybrook following Echosong to their Clanmates. He still follows Echosong around camp, even to the sick cats. Later, Hawkwing thinks how Harrybrook is the only kit left of Leafstar's.

Squirrelflight's Hope

His apprentice, Fringepaw, is now a warrior named Fringewhisker. When Squirrelflight arrives in SkyClan's camp, Harrybook and Plumwillow gaze at her. Later, he shares a rabbit with Leafstar and Sandynose.

In the SkyClan and the Stranger arc

The Rescue

Leafstar: "By the way... I've thought of some names."
Billystorm: "Oh? What have you come up with?"
Leafstar: "I hope you like them... Firekit for our little ginger she-cat...and Stormkit for the gray and ginger she-cat. After Firestar and Sandstorm. And for the gray tom, Harrykit, after the cat who helped us escape from the Twoleg."
Billystorm: "I do like those."
—Leafstar and Billystorm naming their kits The Rescue, page 86
Harrykit is born to Leafstar and Billystorm, along with his two sisters, Firekit and Stormkit. Shortly after his birth, he, his sisters, and his mother are discovered and taken in by an elderly Twoleg female. Leafstar can't think of any names for them yet, but says that once they're a bit older, and she knows them better, she will be able to think of good names for them. Leafstar fears that her kits will think they are kittypets, since when they open their eyes, the first thing they see is the Twoleg nest that they are trapped in.

After a short time, Sharpclaw and a few other SkyClan cats try to rescue her, but fail. They try to rescue them again, and this time, one of their Clanmates pretends to be hurt, and while the Twoleg is distracted, Leafstar and her kits escape, with the help of Harry, the elderly Twoleg's kittypet. Leafstar and Billystorm name him in honor of Harry, even though that Harry's real name is Sol, but it is unknown at that time. His sisters, Stormkit and Firekit, are named after Firestar and Sandstorm.

Beyond the Code

Harrykit: "By doze! By doze is destroyed!"
Billystorm: "Don't worry Harrykit! We won't let you die! We'll find some way to save your poor nose!"
—Billystorm trying to calm Harrykit down after he scratches his nose Beyond the Code, page 18
Harrykit plays with his littermates, Firekit and Stormkit. His mother, Leafstar, is sad that Harrykit and his siblings will have to go into battle though they do not know this. Harrykit scratches his nose while trying to leap on Firekit and his father Billystorm tries to calm him down. Leafstar has to tear herself away from SkyClan's bickering warriors to help her kits, which distresses her. Leafstar doesn't know how to help him until Sol puts moss on Harrykit's nose to stop the bleeding. He and his siblings say they are hungry and yet again are fed when Leafstar and Sharpclaw are discussing patrols.

Harrykit and his siblings boast that they could catch a squirrel if they went on a patrol. They are asleep when Sharpclaw's hunting patrol returns, and when Leafstar leaves them they begin to yowl for their mother.
During the fox attack, Harrykit and his siblings are about to come down from the den into the midst of the battle. Leafstar asks Sol to attack the fox she was attacking so that she could stop her kits from falling, but when Sol gets nervous, Lichenfur rescues Harrykit and his sisters. The night of the flood, he is troubled by the weather. He is carried to safety by his parents and Sharpclaw when the gorge floods.

After the Flood

Harrykit: "Billystorm says we can go live with him now! To keep us safe if there's another flood."
Firekit: "Yeah! He says the housefolks' den never floods!"
Stormkit: "Never ever!"
—Leafstar's kits saying that Billystorm wants them to live with his housefolk to keep them save from another flood After the Flood, page 34
Harrykit, Stormkit, and Firekit attempt to help their mother, Leafstar, work on their den. He says Firekit says there will be another flood, and when his sisters say they can see rainclouds, he says they should climb the cliff, causing Leafstar to tell him gently that there will be no other floods. Clovertail comes over after a while and asks him and his sisters if they want to gather feathers for Tangle's nest, and he boasts he is a great feather chooser.

Firekit, Harrykit and Stormkit reunited with his parents.

When Leafstar comes into the den, Harrykit and his siblings play with some moss. Leafstar asks if they are pretending it is a mouse, and the kits say they are pretending their Twoleg gave it to them. Billystorm had said it was not safe for them in the gorge, and they could live with him. After Leafstar banishes Billystorm, Harrykit and his sisters ask when they will go to the Twolegplace with Billystorm. Soon after this, he and his siblings go missing and Leafstar and Billystorm are distraught. Shrewtooth follows Sol to the old Twoleg nest and discovers Harrykit and his sisters under a bush. One the three complain they are bored, and don't want to eat the mouse that Sol brought them, saying the ones their mother caught taste better, causing Sol to call one of the kits ungrateful. When he and his siblings go out of the bush, Harrykit sees Shrewtooth and exclaims that he is a visitor. After Leafstar fights and banishes Sol, Harrykit and his sisters are reunited with their family.

In the Field Guides

The Ultimate Guide

Harrykit and his sisters, Stormkit and Firekit, are mentioned on their mother's page. It tells of when the three kits were kidnapped by an elderly Twoleg female, and how Leafstar fought to get them back. This event also caused their father, Billystorm, to rethink his rank as a daylight-warrior. Although not mentioned by name, it is mentioned that Sol took Harrykit and his siblings and hid them far from the gorge to play the triumphant role of finding them, impressing their mother and leader, Leafstar. His plot was discovered and the consequence of this was Sol's banishment.
